Calculator Methodology & Sources
How CalcSetu handles formulas, assumptions, changing rates, regional units and technical limitations.
How calculations are built
CalcSetu uses transparent formulas that can be checked independently. Calculator pages explain the main formula, input assumptions and a worked example where useful. Calculations run in the browser so the result appears immediately without requiring a login.
Stable formulas and changing values
Stable mathematical relationships are built directly into the calculator. Values that can change with time or location, such as fuel price, electricity tariff and construction rate, are generally entered by the user instead of being hard-coded.
Where a current government rule or notified rate is necessary, the relevant page states the period used and provides an update note. Examples include income tax and PPF calculations.
Finance and tax calculators
Finance projections use standard mathematical formulas and clearly state when returns are assumed rather than guaranteed. Tax calculators are intentionally limited when special-rate income, surcharge or other complex cases would make a simple calculator misleading. Users should verify current law and their own tax circumstances before filing or making financial decisions.
Electrical engineering calculators
Electrical tools are preliminary engineering calculators. They may estimate current, voltage drop, reactive power, transformer capacity or generator demand, but final design must also consider installation method, manufacturer data, protective devices, fault duty, derating, harmonics and applicable standards.
Land and construction calculators
Regional land units are labelled by the region whose convention is being used. West Bengal pages state the Bigha, Katha, Chatak and Decimal relationships used by the calculator. Construction tools expose variable assumptions such as material ratios, wastage, coverage and local cost instead of presenting them as universal constants.
Testing and corrections
CalcSetu checks formulas with known examples and validates calculator inputs before showing a result. Because standards, tax rules and product assumptions can change, users are encouraged to report an outdated value or calculation issue.

Update policy
Pages that depend on changing official rules are reviewed when those rules change. Significant formula, structured-data or internal-link updates are reflected in the XML sitemap modification date when appropriate.
