Plot Area Calculator
Calculate a plot area from measured dimensions and convert the result into square feet, Katha, Bigha and Decimal.
How this calculator works
Rectangle: Length × Width.
Triangle: 1/2 × Base × Perpendicular Height.
Trapezoid: 1/2 × (Parallel Side A + Parallel Side B) × Perpendicular Height.
The calculated area is converted to square feet first and then to West Bengal land units.
Example
A rectangular plot measuring 60 ft × 36 ft has an area of 2,160 sq ft, which equals 3 Katha using the West Bengal standard.
Source and unit note
West Bengal Registration Directorate lists the commonly used relationships as 1 Bigha = 20 Katha = 14,400 sq ft, 1 Katha = 16 Chatak = 720 sq ft and 1 Chatak = 45 sq ft.
For Decimal, CalcSetu uses the exact acre-based definition: 1 Decimal = 1/100 Acre = 435.6 sq ft. Some official and local references show rounded approximations, so deed or survey records should be used for legal purposes.

Frequently asked questions
Can this calculate irregular plots?
It handles rectangle, triangle and trapezoid shapes. For irregular land, divide the plot into simpler shapes or use a professional survey.
Can I enter measurements in metres?
Yes. Choose Metre as the dimension unit.
Is this suitable for deed measurement?
Use it for estimation. Legal area should be confirmed from official survey and land records.
