West Bengal Land Unit Calculator
Convert common West Bengal land units from one value into all major land measurements.
How this calculator works
Every unit is first converted to square feet. The calculator then converts that square-foot area into all other supported units.
Core West Bengal relationships: 1 Katha = 720 sq ft, 1 Bigha = 14,400 sq ft, 1 Chatak = 45 sq ft and 1 Decimal = 435.6 sq ft.
Example
1 Katha converts to 720 sq ft, 16 Chatak, 0.05 Bigha and about 1.6529 Decimal.
Source and unit note
West Bengal Registration Directorate lists the commonly used relationships as 1 Bigha = 20 Katha = 14,400 sq ft, 1 Katha = 16 Chatak = 720 sq ft and 1 Chatak = 45 sq ft.
For Decimal, CalcSetu uses the exact acre-based definition: 1 Decimal = 1/100 Acre = 435.6 sq ft. The West Bengal Registration FAQ also states 1 Acre = 100 Decimal, which mathematically gives 435.6 sq ft per Decimal, while another rounded figure can appear in official/local material. CalcSetu therefore uses the exact acre-based value. Deed, survey and government land records should be used for legal purposes.
