EV Running Cost Calculator
Estimate EV running cost from energy consumption, electricity tariff and driving distance.
EV running cost
Enter values
How this calculator works
The calculator converts vehicle efficiency to battery kWh used per kilometre. It then adjusts for charging loss to estimate grid electricity per kilometre.
Cost per km = Grid kWh per km × Electricity Tariff.
Example
An EV that drives 6 km per kWh uses about 0.167 kWh from the battery per kilometre before charging loss.
Frequently asked questions
Which efficiency value should I use?
Use your actual trip or long-term efficiency when available rather than only the advertised figure.
Why can home and public charging cost differ?
Electricity tariffs and charging fees vary by location and charging network.
Does this include maintenance or battery depreciation?
No. It estimates electricity running cost only.
